artcvlt: music and animation showcase

october is our season. clearly.

our project began two years ago october, pretty much today (oct 16th). through all this anniversary excitement we’re going to celebrate this entire month with art gatherings and exhibitions FOR our family and supporters. our first exhibition was artcvlt XIII

this wednesday, we’re hosting a music and animation showcase, we’ll be screening FLCL (fooly cooly) -another favorite animation that inspired the core of this project and our artwork. in middle school, while being at in-school-suspension, drawing versions of the FLCL comic was a vivid memory. staying up late to catch the series on adultswim was a pastime as well.

“FLCL is an original video animation (OVA) anime series written by Yōji Enokido, directed by Kazuya Tsurumaki and produced by the FLCL Production Committee, which consisted of Gainax, Production I.G, and King Records. FLCL follows Naota Nandaba, a twelve-year-old boy living in the fictional Japanese suburb of Mabase, and his interactions with Haruko Haruhara, who arrives in the quiet suburb, drawn by the industrial town houses and the Medical Mechanica building.”[x]

the second half of the night will feature musical performances from our family of the arts. (scroll down for line up or visit our artcvlt tab)

the family of friends and artists that are supportive of the arts society we’re building is unheard of this day and age. a bit of imagination and creativity goes a very long way if you believe in yourself. others will see how hard you’re trying and then begin lending a helping hand or two. before you know it, the thoughts in your head are unfolding before your very eyes. the side effect is the community of free thinkers and visionaries our project gravitates.

friday the 13th was an example of that…

we held our spooky friday the 13th art show XIII in partnership with our family in knowla company & gloomy nation. we collaborated to host probably one of the coolest (we’re sure there’s many) art gatherings to grace the underground arts community of new orleans. #artcvlt xiii exhibition was out of a movie- completely a master piece of friends and lovers of the arts. it was such a honor being able to curate this gathering.

here’s the list of artists who showcased artwork: ida floreak, devin derbes, mr. balloon hands, equoni, leeaux, yoko, willo, tori benoit, yorel warr, chow.osama, & matthew castellano

here’s the list of artists who performed (order of performance): concept, abasi qadahfi, hellboy.hellboy, proper channels, e.t., austin rapbaum, tonee shark, dapper dan, shane valley, neji vibez, pauly, & djenko

many blessings for our friends at Mid City Pizza who sent some hot slices our way keeping bellies happy -there’s a special place in our hearts for you and Knowla Company.

sharing and tagging #artcvlt helps keep information floating around, thank you for sharing what you captured.

  • wednesday, october 18th we are gathering for a music and animation showcase. we’re screening all the episodes of FLCL (fooly cooly) and after, we have a line up of performing artists taking the stage. we invite you to join us, visit our artcvlt tab for information.

major updates from cvlt aesthetics, it’s been a while- hello

it’s been a while since we have made a few content rich posts speaking of any new art shows, news, etc. this is that post. we are spilling the beans for everything that’s been happening behind the scenes with our project. it’s a lot of exciting news, things have taken some time- and we applaud you and thank you for your patience.

september directions.

the month of sepetember has herald great opportunity towards the progress for our vision. our clothing has made it to a collective store front in the French Quarter at 421 Frenchmen st. in this location you can purchase limited edition shirts and prints, just look for the Carousel Collective 6PM-12AM.

in addition, we have been given the opportunity to set up at local art markets- we’ll be publishing dates you can visit and see our artwork.

just recently we gave a presentation at Pecha Kucha NOLA, it’s a night for young designers and professionals to gather and talk over a slideshow with a 20 image x 20 seconds format. we discussed how our project has influenced our lives and the lives of others around us. we talked about how our friends began supporting this project and that their support for our artwork meant entirely the world to us. it’s a balance- the relationship between the artist and the audience is something we value. there will be a link posted soon from this event. it took place september 15th.

we are preparing for the entire month of october, we have a two year anniversary taking place the entire month. the excitement is overflowing behind the scenes.

if you would like to join us for the month of october, here are the dates you should take off for:

friday – october 13th
wednesday – october 18th
saturday – october 28th
tuesday – october 31st

  • here are a ton of photos, more to come- we also started a Yu-Gi-Oh community & meet-up

don’t sleep, explore and make memories

this was a very insane weekend spend together with our friends, new family, and lovers. truly a honor to exist in time and space together.

here are a stream of unedited photos because we no longer have our friend’s log in information for Adobe Cloud / Photoshop. if anyone want’s to be the hook up email us at contact@cvltaesthetics.com

we are an art society.

wow Skywalker, it was such a beautiful time meeting you. thank you so much for supporting our art and project. you invested into the art society.

when you get caught in the rain, the deepest of strangers become the most interesting.

so much for a window into the raw life-style of street artists.

you are worth it

we will make time for every single person who feels something when gazing into our art and this project. we seriously are grateful for each and every person supporting this and helping it take form as it’s doing. our last #ARTCVLT art gathering was beyond words. it was something out of a collective dream that we all shared together seamlessly at some place or time. that was entirely you all. we built the stage and you all came. truly a work of art.

what we are doing is a very raw narrative. we expound on the journey of restoring power into the arts by collaborating with our family of artists and creators.

this was all created from making and selling art in the streets. we cannot express that enough.

the appreciation was unexpected and we just feel it’s important to express gratitude. this is a very conscious organism.

to remain in the know of the next gathering give us your email. be on the look out for anything from contact@cvltaesthetics or our name “cvlt aesthetics” – add us to your contacts and keep an eye out for information, not only just for the experience, but photography from our friends, creative writing, shirt releases, and news.

to live a life-style of dedication to the arts is major commitment. we assure you this is not a phase or just something that will fizzle out. this is a life’s work.

thanks for being apart of it.

here is a link to some photos from our previous artcvlt art gathering…

carpe diem.
